Simpler Than a Smartphone: LG dLite

Content

The market is flooded with smartphones of every kind. There are dozens of BlackBerrys, iPhones and Androids, but what ever happened to the regular old cell phone? Isn’t there a place left in the world of technology for simplicity? The LG dLite by T-Mobile may be the answer to such questions. It’s a simple, attractive, and trustworthy cell phone reminiscent of the days before 3G and 4G took over the scene. Consumers still like uncomplicated phones. Not everyone has a business meeting video chat to attend every hour; some people like to hold conversations and desire sleek, reliable phones with which to do so.

Despite its relative plainness, the LG dLite is not exactly inexpensive. But it isn’t exactly plain, either. First of all, the dLite is hot pink or electric blue. And at nearly 9 inches when open, the dLite is big. So if the dLite isn’t trying to hide anything, what isn’t it trying to hide? Some of its features include the following details:

  • Creatively designed menu graphics
  • More LEDs than you can count (They’re on the front, on the sides, and hidden throughout)
  • 2.8-inch inside display with a 240×400 resolution
  • Includes Social Buzz app, which compiles all the popular social networking sites onto one screen
  • 91 MB internal memory without a card
  • Good sound and video-playing ability
  • 2 megapixel camera that also shoots video
  • Web2Go browser with clear and detailed HTML ability
  • MicroUSB capable; earbuds are included with the phone

Although the dLite is mostly marketable to teenagers, the mantra behind the device remains: Simple is cool, too. The phone works well, is stylish, and won’t completely break the bank.
